MESSI BECOMES THE ALL-TIME TOP SCORER IN WORLD CUP HISTORY

Adidas is marking Lionel Messi becoming the greatest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history with a new film that looks back at the moments behind the milestone.

The film sees Messi revisit his World Cup goals and celebrations, tracing his journey from his first strike in 2006 through to the goal that secured his place at the top in 2026. It focuses on the instinct, precision and creativity that have defined his performances on football’s biggest stage.

Alongside the film, adidas has released a still image that brings the story into one frame. The visual features the F50 El Ultimo Tango suspended above Messi, with adidas Official Match Balls from across his World Cup career placed around him.

The image includes the Teamgeist from Germany 2006, the Brazuca from Brazil 2014, the Telstar 18 from Russia 2018, Al Rihla from Qatar 2022 and the Trionda from the 2026 tournament. Each ball represents a different chapter in Messi’s World Cup story, from his early goals to the record-breaking run that confirmed his place in history.

The suspended boot becomes the focal point of the image, while the balls around Messi form a visual timeline of the goals that shaped one of football’s biggest records.
