Dubai Just Held Its First Burger Competition, Here’s Who Won

The battle of the grills brought international heavyweights and local legends together for four days of pure burger chaos.

Dubai doesn’t do anything halfway, and the city’s first-ever Burger Championship proved exactly that. From January 8-11, the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre transformed into ground zero for burger culture, where international heavyweights threw down against local legends in what can only be described as the most ambitious meat-between-buns showdown the region has ever seen.

The lineup was stacked. Spain’s Hundred Burgers, Brazil’s Holy Burger, and UK’s Burger & Beyond all rolled into town ready to compete, but Dubai’s homegrown talent, SALT, Pickl, Hella Good, came ready to defend their turf. Over four days, festival-goers witnessed live cooking demos, head-to-head battles, and exclusive burger drops you literally couldn’t get anywhere else.

Barcelona’s legendary Meat and Fire festival even brought four top chefs to run a live grill pop-up, adding another layer of culinary clout to the whole operation.

When the smoke cleared and the votes were tallied, Argentina’s La Birra Bar walked away with the crown for their “Crispy Dubai” creation, a burger made specifically for this competition. Spain’s Hundred Burgers — ironically named “Loser” — secured second place, while Brazil’s Holy Burger claimed third with “The Same Old Blues.”

What also became clear, through the specialized categories, is that Dubai’s burger scene has some serious range.

SALT’s Desert Truffle Burger took “Most Original.” The Meat Avenue won “Best Locally-Sourced Sustainable Burger,” proving sustainability and flavor can coexist. And Hella Good’s Jalapeño Cheese Smash nabbed the “Best UAE Burger” title, solidifying the local scene’s credibility.
