Women’s football in Saudi Arabia has been building quietly, and now it’s about to get its proper recognition. Footballco just announced the inaugural Indivisa Saudi Women’s Football Awards, the first-ever awards ceremony dedicated entirely to women’s football in the Kingdom, and it’s a big deal.

Set in May following the conclusion of the 2025–26 Saudi Women’s Premier League season, the awards will honour the best players, personalities, and power moves happening both on and off the pitch. ROSHN Group, the Saudi-based real estate giant backed by the Public Investment Fund, is locked in as the exclusive presenting partner, which tells you everything about the level of institutional backing this thing has.

The categories are comprehensive. On the pitch side, you’re looking at Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Goal of the Year, and a Team of the Year nod, amongst others. But what really sets this apart is the off-pitch recognition: Style Icon of the Year, Most Influential Woman of the Year, Local Hero of the Year, and Female Football Executive of the Year. That’s not just a sports award show. That’s a cultural moment.

Starting in April, fans can vote for shortlisted nominees before a panel of industry experts takes it home for the final call. The ceremony will be amplified across Footballco’s Arabic-language brands, Goal, Kooora, and Indivisa, which collectively reach over 170 million Arabic-speaking fans monthly.

The numbers behind Saudi women’s football make the timing make sense. The Saudi Women’s Premier League launched in 2022, 77,000 girls now compete in the Girls’ Schools League annually, and there are over 1,000 qualified female coaches in the country. Footballco’s own Arabic women’s football content pulled 250 million video views in 2025 alone.

It’s safe to say Saudi women’s football is writing its own story, and now it’s finally getting an awards show worthy of it.
